Semma Burba
Head Coach and Nutrition Coach
​CrossFit Level 2 Trainer, NASM CPT, Precision Nutrition Level 2 Certified, CrossFit Kids Trainer, Five-Time CrossFit Games Athlete

With over a decade of CrossFit experience, Semma has spent the last 12 years coaching and mentoring athletes of all backgrounds. A multi-time CrossFit Games athlete, she brings a deep well of knowledge and experience to every class—but what truly sets her apart is her ability to meet people where they are. Whether you’re brand new or highly experienced, Semma excels at customizing workouts to make them safe, effective, and approachable for everyone.

​Semma previously owned and operated her own CrossFit affiliate, but it was always the coaching—not the business—that fueled her passion. Friendly, warm, and endlessly creative, she thrives on helping people get fit, move well, and actually enjoy the process.

Her coaching style blends patience, clear instruction, and a sharp eye for movement to help athletes build confidence, strength, and longevity in their training.​

Outside the gym, Semma is a proud mom of three and enjoys long walks in the woods with her golden retriever, Goose. She’s passionate about helping people feel strong, capable, and at home in their bodies—inside and outside the gym.

Jake Lowder
Coach

Jake brings three years of CrossFit passion to Brave Heart and starts the day strong with our 5 AM crew, coaching with energy and attention to detail. His classes are all about fun, connection, and helping every athlete crush their goals. With a keen eye for movement and a talent for offering personalized coaching cues, Jake creates a welcoming environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, and excited to grow.

Safety and motivation are at the core of Jake’s coaching philosophy. He’s committed to helping members move better, feel stronger, and leave each class with a smile.

Outside the gym, Jake works in finance, enjoys time with his family, and loves getting outside—whether it’s on the golf course or biking the local trails.

Holly Remacle
Coach
CrossFit L2 Trainer

Holly has been doing CrossFit since 2018, starting shortly after having her second child—and she hasn’t looked back since. A consistent presence in the gym and the community, Holly earned her CF-L1 in 2019 and has since gone on to earn her CF-L2, bringing even more knowledge and depth to her coaching.  With over six years of CrossFit coaching experience and more than two decades in the competitive cheer world—where she owned and operated her own gym—Holly brings both energy and expertise to every class.

Holly’s Thursday night classes are packed with energy, encouragement, and just the right amount of sass. She’s passionate about helping others feel strong and confident, and she’s especially skilled at building people up—physically and mentally.

Outside the gym, Holly stays busy keeping up with her very active daughters: Teagan (18), Gage (6), and Hunter (11), who’s also a proud Brave Heart member. Whether she’s coaching, parenting, or cheering you on mid-WOD, Holly brings excitement, experience, and heart to everything she does.

Julie Bytwerk
Owner and Coach
CrossFit L1 Trainer

​Julie found CrossFit in 2012 and quickly fell in love with the challenge, the community, and the results. When the local gym she loved was at risk of closing, she stepped in and bought it—driven by her passion for the people and the belief that the Mason area deserved a strong, supportive fitness community.

As the owner of Brave Heart CrossFit, Julie is deeply involved in everything from renovating and improving the space to coaching classes and helping members find smart, effective workout modifications. She has a knack for making workouts approachable, fun, and challenging—no matter your fitness level.

Warm, welcoming, and always ready to lend a hand (or a scaling option), Julie helps make Brave Heart feel like home. You’ll often spot her with her sidekick, Lolo the bulldog, who loves hanging out at the gym and making the rounds for pets. 

Outside the gym, Julie is an accountant, property owner, and former furniture store owner who now enjoys lake days with her husband and friends. Her love for community, creative projects, and building something meaningful shows up in every corner of the gym—and especially during the CrossFit Open, where she brings energy and fun without the pressure.
